Black Screen (FIX)
Hi there,
when I start the game the screen just goes black, but I can hear the sound of the main menu. :mannausea::steamfacepalm:
I tried:
  • ALT+TAB
  • ALT+ENTER
  • Win Compatibility Mode
  • Disabeling fullscreen optimizations
  • All dpi scaling options win offers
  • Changing the config.ini: Fullscreen from "0" to "1"
  • Running the .exe without steam
Nothing worked. Any suggestions?

Specs:
GTX 1080 running on 3840x2160 (4K native resolution) in Win 10 64bit (1809).

Fixed it, by forcing a non-native resolution in windows. 1920x1080

Set your native resolution in windows to 1920x1080.

It did not work for me, here's what I did.

Open %localappdata%\TRSC2017 (where the save files are)
Edit the config.ini and add the line:

fullscreen= 0

Save the config;ini

The game will be playable in windowed mode, no fullscreen :/
None of these fixes worked for me. Sads.

Wow, that fixed it for me!!! Thank you so much, I thought I would never get to play this game!

This also worked to fix my issue. The game seems to not like VRR (Variable Refresh Rates) such as GSYNC or FreeSync. Thank you for posting your solution as it has allowed me to enjoy this game! ^_^:broflex:

Thanks! This fixed the issue for me too. It'd be nice if this issue was patched-out!

I know this discussion is old, but I just want to add that I too was having this problem, and this solution worked for me. Thanks.

Until this issue is patched-out (it's looking like never), this thread needs bumps ;-)

I played the game yesterday, yet today when I turned it on, it went black screen. Any ideas?
Same problem still happened in 2023/02, the g-sync trick worked for me. Thanks a lot.
