We're super active and so is the community: Hop on in @ https://discord.gg/tol
TBH I've enjoyed a lot of their patch updates. Just this last one is so god awful that its left a sour taste in my mouth. The changes are completely stupid - and came with no warning or input from the community. I've played this game for 650 hours and one of my favorite things to do after work to unwind. Now? Probably my last night of playing it for a good long while.
You're in the wrong hub: be sure to check any 1 of the 5 pins on the main discussions page.

There's a full reasoning for it on our official community/news hub @ https://discord.gg/tol #game-news - without this patch, there would be no new mechanics/classes. Now, we're future-proof and we can have new content without bloating the confusion of the game. There's now consistency and gives us the ability to do... well, everything!
As for balance, we always fix things -- the average repeated negative feedback we see is really only just a few, particular nuances that can be fixed.
The only thing actually simplified was the Alchemist. We've since renamed the update to Streamlined which better reflects what the patch actually did.
I'm going to lock this thread since the purpose of OP has already been served.
