When you played, we had almost 0 learning tools. Now we have a ton!
1. Class cards: Press TAB anywhere past login screen to pop them up. Don't worry about Classic Mode - that's being retired to private game modes only later. Just Cult<>Unseen modes. Hover over an ability to expand deep mechanics, note the "Logbook Examples" tab (REALLY useful for new and returning players), and the tips tab is .... okay, just needs updating (soon).
2. Live game _underlined_ chat: Click to open a resource! For example, "cw" will turn blue and underline - clicking will open "Court Wizard". If you see _bleed_ in chat, you can click on it to open the glossary to show what the mechanic does. Glossary (ESC >> Glossary in game, or top right knowledgebase in lobby) will also show player-created terms (like "BD" for Blue Dragon).
3. Guide (Knowledgebase in lobby top-right, or ESC menu in-game): Essentially summarizes the tutorial in writing. A bit bloaty in text, but does the trick if you know what you're looking for.
4. External Wikia: https://tol.wikia.com ( https://tol.wikia.com/Classes is my fav ). If you have a 2nd monitor, this works great: It's like class cards.
5. Scripted tutorial upgrades. Retake the tutorial if it's been a while! Since launch, the main thing we did was bundle some abilities to the closest mechanic type and give it a name. For example, "Bleed" used to have about 5 kinds of bleeds named different things; now it's a single mechanic similar to Hearthstone keywords so it's easier to remember. This isn't for learning classes, though: Just core mechanics.
6. https://discord.gg/tol #ask-a-guide : 24/7 volunteer curated guides to help ya anytime :)
7. UI upgrades: The old UI was hideous ;D hopefully the new (well, Q1 2018 new) UI is more intuitive.
btw, this discussions section is pretty dead -- Discord is where it's at ^ see you there!
