Some hunts will have progressive unlock conditions, especially the clan ones - you won't get the higher ones until you've done the ones before. But most regular hunts simply become available as the story progresses.
You can start as many hunts as you like, and you can do them in any order you like (as long as they're available to you). You don't have to do one, then come back and do the next, etc. With the exception of the above-mentioned hunts that unlock progressively, but that's mostly clan stuff.
You also can never miss hunts. They remain available forever, no matter what you do. Though of course they may become trivially easy if you wait too long.
So you should be able to quickly clear those and then get the hunts for the later parts of the story. And the higher tiers will be significnatly harder.
