If on Windows, you will want to check your cloudsave location, which is the following:

This is where all the save files go.
You're very likely modifying your local save file instead, which will get constantly overriden by your cloudsave.

i was able to get rid of it using the cloud but could not get it to load my save that i made years ago so i just reloaded what i had dont know if it currupted or something i know there has not been any pc updates to the game not that i know of after me buying it dont remember if i got it when it released
