Do i have to play previous games?
Currently playing this particular title on ps4 (cheap as ♥♥♥♥ lmao) and I'm seeing a ton of characters i do not recognise. I stopped watching around ggo (the battle royale part) so are these show characters or game characters? (Some purple haired woman and a blonde) If i gotta play the previous ones I'll do so. I feel like I'd enjoy the setting of the original more at least.

There are a handful of characters that only show up in the games.
So if you want to know more about them you'd have to play Hollow Fragment and Lost Song.

Good to know thanks, having looked up the first game it looks like a pain lol. Idk about lost song but tbh I'm having fun for the first time in a week when it comes to games so I'll be sticking to this

Again, to each their own. One of the reasons I considered this to be a horrible game, aside from the gameplay itself, was the absence of any useful story -- 90% of their time, the characters are talking about stuff that happened in the past. I don't know whether that makes things better for people that actually know anything about what happened in the past -- or whether that would be even worse. Still, I've never seen a game that focuses as much on the past as this one does, while providing nothing of its own.

But, that just shows that different people like different things. The game does have a Mostly Positive, after all.

Idk if this was the wrong thread but people usually use the again part of your post to refer to a previous message lol
