I have the same problem.
I dropped this game months ago and wanted to back.
I remember that I used controller for this game and it worked very well.
I use the same controller for other games and nothing bad happened.
If more ppl report the same problem, it must be some ninja update that doesn't allow to use controller anymore.

i used to could play this game years ago with a controller then one day it stopped working and i have had numerous controllers since then and tried every fix online and built a new pc i still can not use a controller on this game lol.

solution... steam > settings > controller... look for steam input and find your controller type... for me it was xbox... find yours and enable and boot up... should recognise your controller now... gl have fun...

This is exactly what I tried to do at the very start and it didn't work.
What worked for me is "Verify integrity of gamefiles".

yeah that was the first thing that didnt work for me lol

I just got this game ( I played it on another system years ago) but I wanted to play it here on steam. I normally play with KBM but this is so janky, and decided to try my controller to realize it doesn't work... Is there a sure fire fix?

How did you fix it?

My controller just stops responding to inputs in the middle of a boss fight in the dlc.. after mashing I get control again but its frustrating.

I just tried playing the game, only to discover that it completely ignored any and all input from my Xbox Controller. Steam claims that my controller should be mostly functional for this game, but I'm finding that a bit hard to believe. That said, it wouldn't be the first time that I found Xbox controllers to be completely ignored by an older game from Steam running on a Windows 11 PC.
