I can't help but think this wasn't supposed to be the solution?

For the level Coffee Machines - I've just learnt about the Genetic Solver, but the above solution got me a gold with a time of 9.8 seconds

Was the point of the solution "know when to ignore the more complex nodes"
or did I just manage to solve it in a kooky way

You solved in a kooky way. I have lots of kooky solutions to puzzles, they're hilarious :D

The solutions to the genetic solver puzzles are all related so once you've figured out the logic for one of them, you find it for all of them. I only realized that when I was saying the connection process out loud and realized that it repeated over and over again.

Found a solution with genetic solver, that is fast enough without upgrades. Most videos on youtube only work with upgrades. https://imgur.com/a/2CZ15f6
