vertical potions & scrolling buffs idea request
Vertical Potions (for when you have a lot)
hi, in some modded games, we can get a lot of potions and potion slots, and when they stretch too far (on smaller screen resolutions, they start to overlap the other buttons like map and deck etc.

idea: after about 7 potions (customisable?) to have another called "+" at the start, and when we click it, a drop down appears with a list of potions to mouse over and use. for example:

"+", potion 1, potion 2, potion 7 etc...
+ click
potion 8
potion 9
potion 10
etc.

"Scrollable Buffs" area:
also, especially when playing modded, there can be a lot of small buffs (or debuffs) on enemies, but also a lot more on our player character.

but it is hard to see what they all are, partly when you have a lot, but also i think because they often appear on the right hand side of your character, instead of from the left hand side of the actual playing area/screen.

idea:
to optionally have then start from the left of the screen
+ we can mouse wheel up and down, to scroll through the list of buffs, to be able to see all the other ones that overlap the screen :)

im not sure if these are possible, but based on what modders have been able to do so far, im hoping/guessing that it is possible :)

(ideally this would be added to the main game but maybe modders can help) :)

Does it matter when you're practically invincible? Fwiw, the Gatherer mod has a box for additional potions you can drag around the screen. That'd be a good place to start.

ah hi zu, thanks i think it only supports its own potions and 4 of them but thanks i check in case it can be expanded upon.

(hehe, well in that screenshot my character wasnt that invinincible.... that super boss comes back to life when you beat him, and every few turns he does about 357 dmg and can still kill since the buffs are many but small) :) (on later bosses they have like 40 million Hp or soemthing :)

ah cool, ok thanks - i'll try and see if the modder of basemod can add something there.

(for the scrolling, maybe a small message can appear at the top of the buff/debuff area, and then maybe pressing control+mouse wheel can scroll the current list of buffs, left by 1 slot per wheel scrolling step, or it's time limited so scrolling with any speed of mouse wheel scrolling, and any amount of scrolling, only shifts the list to the left by a maximum of 1 position per real time seconds or something but i try and have another think about how it could work)

@pgames-food Sure, anyone can use that code. Scrollable Buff sounds possible, but I think there are many things to consider. Is using the mouse wheel intuitive? Can you make the scrolling animation smooth? When the scrolling feature should be activated? etc.

I don't think the base game updates at all. If someone makes that fix, it should probably be added to a mod, possibly BaseMod.

can i check if you would be ok with the possibility of another modder utilising the code of the potion sack (or yourself if you are willing and able), so that a vanilla bug can have a fix?
someone mentioned that the feature / fix was actually available in your mod (as a starting point) and they could be right :)

basically it was to try and cater for lots of potions, but not just 3 minorgatherer ones, but more actual ones:

about 2 issues (and possible fixes that can help them), and it seems that Basemod could be a cool place for them, especially because basemod helps modders to add more Relics and more Potions to the game :lunar2019piginablanket:

the Gatherer mod has an extra, separate, dragable window known as a Potion Sack (where it can hold new potions from that mod), and the modder has kindly given permission for its code to be used if helpful for addressing the issue of lots of potions, and for the scrollable solution, i will add a comment on the above link with what was discussed, for completeness.

if you are able in any way to help implement something that can help with those, it will be cool :)
(affects vanilla less, but modded and / or endless/infinite games a lot more)
