Wanting to do a church run
What build/playthrough lends itself best to going with the church? Combat, Diplo, or Stealth?

Diplomacy. Go forth and spread the Good Word™.

Through patience a ruler can be persuaded, and a gentle tongue can break a bone. (Proverbs 25:15)
Diplomacy and stealth are fairly compatible, but definitely you want diplomacy.
Thanks guys! and thats actually a good sign for how the writing for the church is done lol
Come to think of it, unless it's been changed, towards the end you may not be able to continue working for the Church without combat.

But Stealth + Mathias should be sufficient here, I think.
What about the monks, I don't remember for sure.

I agree with what wcc wrote. There's one fight for sure, maybe a second depending on the player's choice of ending. I was able to do both with a main character that wasn't focused on either combat or stealth and only Romeo assisting. With Mathias there, it would be much easier.

I think they balanced this encounter by effectively putting King Stanton at your side, and by providing you another two NPCs for this fight. I've never played as a talker, but I think with some well-placed grenades you should be fine.
