Report a translation problem
I own the steam and retail copy..i only have problems in saving and loading if i ran in compatibility mode. Just try and check if you are running in compatibility mode, also try check the run as administrator if its not checked.
TIP: do it fast ! Double click quickly...
If it freezes, instead of re-booting your PC try this...
sometimes Ctrl-Alt-C was enough to free it
Ctrl-Alt-Delete to bring up Task Manager
Hover mouse over Task Manager window
Use UP arrow key to select Commandos (not responding) from the list
hit Delete, and it should close Commandos and you can restart the game
3. Edit the Configuration File for Save/Load
Go to the game’s configuration file, usually found in:
Documents\Commandos - Behind Enemy Lines\OUTPUT or
The game’s installation directory.
Open commando.cfg (or similar) with Notepad.
Replace its contents with the following lines:

.PROFILE [ .USER 0 ]
.DEVELOP 1
Save the file and restart the game.
