Is there a bug with the soul harvester's "impending Doom"?
Hi all, I love DW2. I'm wondering if anyone knows why my soul harvesters might stop doing damage to enemies once they have a lot of hit points.

I have a beautiful set up on the "Berserk" map, with ~10 fully upgraded Soul Harvesters (No Escape, Siphon Soul, and Impending doom) set in the center of the map. Since I've upgraded their range using the 'Empower' many times over, functionally each enemy should be having a few percent of its health removed each second. I've covered the floor in slime traps with the 'unholy slime' upgrade to prevent healing. Once enemy health reaches 10%, they're killed by the 'burning gaze' item.

However, I have a strange observation: At this point, most enemies have have a ~10 billion (i.e. 10^10) hitpionts. Each soul harvester trap should do 1% damage / second to them, i.e. 10^8 damage per second. Yet my impending doom traps only seem to be recording a few hundred thousand damage per second when I look at the 'damage dealt' mouseover tool-tip.

Oddly this damage cap isn't affecting the slime traps. The slime traps with 'withering' (0.5% damage per sec) still seem to be performing well. I have a slime trap that seems to be doing a few billion damage per second at this point (over 3 trillion cumulative damage and counting at wave 500!). At this point, the only way I'm killing most enemies is using a row of 'home teleport' teleporter traps, and making the enemy run through the withering slime 4 times.

Is there a hidden cap to the soul-harvester's damage?

Blackhole Trap - Spatial Rift - Maximum damage is now capped to (Mastery level * 100).
Soul Harvester - Impending Doom - Maximum damage per tick is now capped to (Mastery level * 100).
Teleporter - Impartial Teleportation - Maximum damage per tick is now capped to (Mastery level * 100).
Developer Comment: These traits, when stacked multiple times and combined with Burning Gaze item, made it possible to infinitely progress in Endless Mode regardless of enemy health. While the build is very creative, its infinite potential is a design mistake that had to be patched. The damage cap is still high enough for these traits to deal significant amount of damage.

Thanks for the reply! That's a very useful piece of information to know. I suppose it does make sense to avoid a (relatively early game) build that can progress infinitely far.
