Corrupted Save Data/Backup bug makes game unplayable.
So, quite some time ago, something happened - I don't quite recall what ('crash during save' is most likely) but it was something. Since then, it has been impossible to load this game. Any attempt to do so brings up the following message.

'Sorry but, it looks like your save data is corrupted. It may be because of crash during save or problem on your hard disk.

- You can find backup files from (Game Installed Directory)/backup and restore one of them manually.
or
- Restore with recent backup file automatically by pressing f10

NO BACKUP FILE AVAILABLE

F10, needless to say, does nothing. The only way to end the game is to Alt-F4. I have attempted taking a file from the backups folder and placing it in the main folder. I have also done so while deleting all other .dat files. I have tried deleting all .dat files. I have tried verifying. I have tried reinstalling. I have tried *using a different computer*. I have tried deleting everything except SaveData_0.dat.

Nothing has worked. As far as I can tell the game is completely unsalvageable. To my surprise, it seems no one has encountered this issue, either, but... in the off-chance, does anyone happen to know a solution?

I managed to get something like 3 hours and the game wasn't quite expensive enough for it to be a priority, so I haven't sought a refund...

Do I understand this right: You have deleted all your save files, and later on done so again, excluding the SaveData_0.dat file?
In that case, the SaveData_0.dat should have been deleted at least once and the game should have created a new one.

Have you tried disabling steam cloud saves?
Steam replicating your savefile could be the reason the deletion of local saves doesn't work and the same error appearing on the other computer.

Sorry for the problem happened to you, Base Delta Zero.
As I wrote on the error screen, there is a (very very very small)possibility of data corruption from unknown sources(even AAAs too), and I tried to solve it as make back-ups of save data on start up and recover with recent one when the corruption is happened.
But unfortunately, back-up datas are stored locally, so if the problem on save data is found when there is no valid back-up(after re-install or playing on a new device, for example) the game just stuck while trying recovery and the corrupted save data will come back from Steam cloud if you try to remove it... I didn't expect that when I was writing the code. Again, sorry about it.

The only solution is that omega suggested, turn off the Steam cloud, remove save data and start from the beginning.

Would it be possible to display some additional text in that warning only when the game has been launched through steam?
Something along the lines of "If this problem persists, please try to disable steam cloud saves and delete the local save data before launching the game" ?
