Crashing at 900+ enemies
Hey, not sure what the exact causes are, but I picked the game up again recently, and I've been experienced a fair amount of crashes when doing some maps (both random and normal)

It generally seems to happen when there's around 900+ enemies on the map and a new wave spawns (or is rushed), like if you're mass rushing a bunch of waves to get through them faster. Very noticable with +% enemy runes. Every time it's happened, it's when I've used those runes and was either in the middle of spawning in a bunch of waves, also had +%spawn speed so they spawned fast themselves.

The game runs fine until suddenly just freeze and crash. It doesn't really slow down prior to it, so there's no real warning, just suddenly it's crashed.

Maybe there is some internal value that caps out, like a list of created enemy entities that overflows faster because of the +X% enemies rune.
Higher waves degrade performance in general, it's basically an arms race between your defenses and your computers.
If you're farming for exp, have you tried simpler runes, like decreased bounties, dungeon core health or increased consumable cooldown?

I wasn't exp farming, just trying to get more items, hence +% enemies is ideal, as I figure more enemies, more drops.

That'll be a little difficult since I have since ascended unfortunately, but next time it happens repeatedly on the same map, I'll make sure to let you know and send them your way!

Nevermind my previous post, just had it happen repeatedly on the same level. Will send files, happened both on 1x speed and 4x speed, though no real consistently in wave/enemy count.

Map is "the keep" with the runes active on it, for increased enemy count and spawn rate (the main culprits I imagine)
I just plop down chakrams, harpoons and some barricades for cold initially, then add slow traps and let the waves happen. Eventually it just, crashes.
First crash was on wave 43, with 379/503 enemies, at 4x speed
Second crash was on wave 56, with 464/625 enemies, at 4x speed
Third crash was on wave 58, with 295/1025 enemies, at 1x speed

To add more, I've been having more and more crashes on different maps, at all counts of enemy counts, so I dont' think the count is the culprit. It's always on maps where I've used a bunch of runes with +enemies, +spawn speed, +enemy damage etc, so I wonder if it's connected to some of those values ?

Thank you for the help. I'm trying to find out the reason of the problem. For now, my best assumption is that the problem is related to sound. Could you please try to reproduce with sound off?

Seems you might be onto something. I disabled sound (and music just for good measure) and was able to finish both of the levels I had been crashing on every attempt, without tweaking the runes or anything.
Other levels I crashed in were unfortunately endless, so I can't check those, but the two main culprits is pretty good

While doing performance tuning, I found that massive sound effects from tons of enemies and traps could cause strange behavior(like tearing noise, stop of all sounds, stuttering, etc.). I suspect that sound cards have some kind of capacity limitation, so I'm working on adding a new setting option that can limit count of sound effects could be played simultaneous.
Fingers crossed that solves it! Would be really neat, I'll post again if I run into more crashes while muted, in case they happen still <:
