Me too. It happens since a few weeks ago. EVERY 20-30 minutes of game!

When it happens, is there a huge crowd of people on the screen?
This is the hard lock/crash that you read about in the discussions. Seems to be related to some function call that is being blocked, missing or corrupted on some systems. Might be related to a series of windows updates that changed security settings for apps.
Still no confirmed cause at the moment though...
For now, verify game files, update driver files and update bios on affected computers. Be sure to check for motherboard and device updates. Might be wise to clear steam cache as well as disable any overlays one might be using and turn off any background apps that might be running.
the only way i can play without crashing is to underclock my CPU .. this might not be the games fault tho ^^

Frontier games have a history of not liking overclocking.
no - i need to underclock it from factory default ^^
That's interesting

Are you using xmp or the extended xmp on your ram?
And is your bios set to uefi?

I started experience exactly this today. Have updated Windows, drivers an verified the game files. Still not working :( Have you tried a solution that worked?
Try rolling back the most recent windows updates (if you can)
Check for other updates to components on your system. Also check that you have the latest windows management engine labeled as windows me update for your motherboard.
The hard locks seem to be related to something other than the game.
Also note that windows update does not always get the best drivers for your computer. Instead, get those from the component manufacturer.

do you have any mods installed?

I've tried everything together with the Frontier support. Only underclocking works .. but it may be a faulty Intel CPU - im justing riding the warranty a bit longer :)

Using a lower resolution seems to fix the problem. Some people say this doesn't happen in free mode; it may be a problem only in campaign mode.
