Better Work Zones
I am having loads of problems with litter in my zoo, security guards seem to not be real helpful everywhere as I still have loads of pick pocket and vandalism issues in my zoo. Another problem I've been having is with my educators.

I feel Planet Zoo needs to introduce some form of zoo zoning where you can section your zoo into different areas and then use that for your caretakers, educators and security guards that don't necessarily have specific buildings that need to be in their work zones but roam everywhere else to fulfill their duties.

Like I love how the work zones currently work, but I feel there needs to be something different or something added additionally when it comes to these three employee types.

First thing that comes to mind and best example I can think of is something in the lines of the neighborhood painter from city skylines 2.

I don't know how else I can resolve these issues better without spamming trash cans and employees literally everywhere.

The key is often working on guest happiness. Happy guests means less vandalism, cleaner zoos, more sales and overall better zoos. But yes, the zoos do need lots of trash cans.
Totally agree that caretakers and educators need a special work zone setup.
Hello, just thought Id share what I do. Maybe it could be helpful. When zoning the caretakers, I set the category that I want them to work in as a zone. So I just have a toilet cleaning zone. I then switch off all other duties in the staff list. I do this for other duties too such as bins or collecting animals. You could do this just in the staff list but I find it easier to keep tags on them if I have them zoned too. Then, pretty importantly, staffrooms that are in reach of their tasks without walking too far. I dot a good few around the zoo. I set mechanics up too, some to do facilities and others the ATMs etc. I then, again, change the staff chores. For the Secturity Guards, I make sure that the security cameras reach the whole zoo (the area goes blue). Use the heatmap, security and crime to check. If everything is covered you won't get too much, if any, crime. Check also with the heatmap that the guests are happy. Make sure they have benches to replenish their energy, drinks and food near by. I love the management aspect and often my goal is to achieve 5 stars. haha, just for fun. It is long winded to set everything up but persevere. Good luck. Hi Gramps :)
Hi Jillquick! Those are some good tips but I would caution players to not get too dependent on assigning tasks. That can backfire fairly quickly if players don't have enough staff assigned to specific tasks or if one task is completely overlooked. I'm not saying don't do it, just be careful and persistent when doing so. Anyway, players *should* experiment with assigning tasks to see if it works with *their* style of play and level of management.

A note on facilities. In the modern version of the game it seems optimum to make groups of power, staff rooms and keeper huts together, maybe in one building to make best use of space. The theory is that the power must be fairly close to each other so that would make the staff rooms and keeper huts fairly close as well. This planning will then allow overlapping work zones without getting too many habitats in a single work zone.

Again, just a suggestion and by no means what all players should do for any given zoo.
Hi Gramps, I agree with you. I dont normally comment but as I spend quite a bit of time doing the management of zoos, ones I download from the workshop, I thought I'd share my actions. The way I do things isn't everyone's cup of tea and some zoo's are big with lots of animals and I can spend hours fixing up zones etc. I just enjoy doing it. Tours are the same and can take ages to set up if the zoo is big. Results are cool, as are seeing all the animals and guests happy. Theres so much to this game its a whole big tutorial. Zones can be whatever you want them to be. Things in sandbox can be switched off in settings etc. All a learning curve. Its what makes this such an interesting game. :steamhappy:
