As long as the animal you put up for trade is fertile it doesnt matter how old they are. There is no excuse putting up animals like timber wolves 13 years old for 10k on trade.
Also i have never seen my animals age when i put them on the trading list and they get sold very fast because i dont put them up for ridicious prices.
I think these kinds of issues are a player culture issue we have to resolve among ourselves rather than demanding a rule from the game makers - if we all just ignore the overpriced and old creatures then eventually the people doing the scalping will have to adjust their tactics.
Things in the game are only worth what people will pay for them, if there is a demand, there will be a price. You don't see any 10,000 CC chickens because they would never be bought...
