For those with USB microphone issues
As many of you I was annoyed by the USB mic stuttering issue and decided to have a look where it comes from. As it turns out Crash asks DirectInput to enumerate all devices about 10 times a second which is both I/O heavy and completely pointless as Crash does not even support DirectInput controllers. I wrote a fake DirectInput DLL which always reports zero controllers.

TL;DR: Download dinput8.dll from https://github.com/quidrex/CrashFix/releases/download/v1/dinput8.dll and put it in $YOUR_STEAM_LIBRARY_FOLDER\steamapps\common\Crash Bandicoot - N Sane Trilogy\

Let me know if it works for you.

Edit: An arbitrary clip from yesterday with the fix in place, I use an Auna MIC-900B USB: https://clips.twitch.tv/LazyPlumpTroutTinyFace

Happy that it works, you're welcome :) It was surprisingly easy to find the cause and fixing it was not as hard as I intitially thought because the calls were 100% pointless…

There is a beta branch? It could be possible that the fix disables PS4 controllers, however I could implement that. I don't own one so it would be nice if someone could test it.
