SO and the last point may not put a smile on everyone's face.
Since the textures in Summer Islands were created for a resolution of 1920x1080, a higher resolution (2k, 4k,..) will unfortunately not bring a sharper image.
I have therefore ordered the options to the resolutions with the aspect ratios and left only the 1to1 (for the created textures) inside.

For higher resolutions you should choose the appropriate smaller resolution and adjust the zoom level.
E.g. for Ultrawide Screen with 3440x1440 (21:9) take 2560x1080 and adjust the zoom level.
I can imagine that not everyone likes this. I'm also really sorry about that. I apologize for this. Summer Islands remains a 2D pixel game. Creating textures in different resolutions is not proportional. It requires different file types and a different game engine. So a completely new game. Possibly something for the future ;)

I assume with 2560x1440 you have an aspect ratio of 16:9
Choose any resolution under 16:9 and adjust the zoom level.
I hope you could still enjoy Summer Islands.
Have fun ;)
Best regards
Matt
Edit: I'm trying to screenshot it to show it (F12 for me) just opens up the devtools.
But for anyone else running into this, it as mentioned above it seems the "zoom" function in graphics should allow you to play on 1440p
Unfortunately, you can't play 4k Native.
The textures were created for 1080p.
But just try the demo and see for yourself if you can play with it or if it bothers you too much.
Cheers
Matt
Mr. Matt, since you are aware of those resolutions (2k, 4k), how about actually putting them into your settings menu and adjusting the game accordingly without the user having to fiddle with the zoom level manually?
I understand that your textures are at 1920x1080.
You can fetch the resolution of the monitor that the game runs in and use this for auto selecting the proper res and zoom level. If there are too many resolutions to deal with, at least add the remaining most popular ones (2k, 4k) or use the same as what the OS shows as available and use some math to calculate zoom levels automatically.
For 2k at game setting of 2048x1152 (!?) you need 133% zoom if full screen.
at game settings of 1920x1080 you would need about 133.5% or something
Not a huge rant, I can continue playing fine, however it was a rather big WTF when I first launched the game and the window being missaligned and too small with no option to just set my monitor's res in the settings menu.
--
Just launched the campaign.
-FYI, with edge scrolling enabled, must have an option to keep cursor within the game. Its going off to my other monitors.
-Because of the zoom implementation, playing full screen at 133% leaves 1-2 pixel at the bottom and to the right, empty. If I move my cursor quickly to the bottom inside those 1-2 dead pixels, the game won't scroll because it is no longer within the game's window (even if the window is maximised). So I can't throw the mouse down to scroll. If I put zoom level to 134%, then the game is over my screen's boundaries and putting the cursor down will no longer reach the border and won't scroll at all. (running at 1920x1080 with 2k screen).
My guess for this to work is that I would need to actually drop my desktop resolution to 1920x1080 to fit your game, heh ouch.
Gonna back away from the full version here and try the demo hehe. Truly wishing you fix these kinks as from what I've seen, it looks like a nice fun lill game, gameplay seems solid and graphics style is great. Cheers
