An Afterburner style game would also be great.

Not sure if this thread is still alive, but if you're fortunate enough to own an Apple device that has iOS 13, the original Space Harrier dev made a game called Air Twister that looks an interesting take on Space Harrier. Unfortunately I don't have an iPhone so I can't make a verdict on it.

Interesting! I did not know about that one. Looks like a blend of Space Harrier and Panzer Dragoon. However, I cannot play it either :D

Ex-Zodiac recently came out. It's not only a Star Fox homage. The current Early Access version has already 6 Space Harrier-like stages including a boss fight in each!

I didn't know about E-Zodiac. It's looks like Space Harrier and Star Fox mixed into one. I'm gonna have to get that when I can! Looks fun!
