I know this story is rarely known outside of Eskimos (Iniut people), but the game just strangely retells the old folk lore. I happened to read this story when studying seberian legends, and it's one of my favorites.

Inuit people believed ravens created everything.

Raven created dogs using its nail, reindeer with its hair, and sea by urine.

After all these, he started to rest. One day he saw a beautiful creature approaching him in sea, and he found out later it was a whale. He was obssessed with its beauty.

So raven approached to the whale, and got a chance suddenly slipped into the whale's throat. Whale was frightened so closed its mouth.

Raven walked along the belly of whale.

He found a beautiful girl glimmering with light in a wide space. He wanted to take her out of there. So he asked.

However, the girl refused, saying she couldn't leave here but without explanation.

Raven thought, I created the world, I can take you away. After a while, he kidnapped the girl and went out. Shockedly, he observed the whale going mad, and was dying at the moment he grabbed the girl.

At that moment, he realised the girl is the spirit of whale. It was him who killed the beautiful creature. After this day, raven found a deeper awareness of the world he created.

That's the story. I don't know whether game developers read this or not. But I do know there are some connections between northern Europe's raven mystery with siberian natives' legends, which has been revealed by academic studies.

In the game, raven took things. He did not know he was the root of destroying, only after the sad ending that the beauties he touched were dead. With that speaking, theme for the old folk lore and the game is the same.
