Playing on PC without SteanVR launching
You can still play Rolling Line on PC even if you have a VR headset connected!

You will notice that by default, using the "Play on PC" launch option will still cause SteamVR to launch, but you can follow the steps in this guide to disable SteamVR completely so that it wont launch automatically:

Another option is to put "-playpc" as a launch command and the game will force run in PC every time (but unless you have disabled SteamVR then it will still launch in the background).
you can do the same with "-playvive" & "-playoculus" to force the game to use specific platforms.

Why would you want to? Whole point of VR is to get away from tiny 2d rectangle displays!

Thanks for this hint! It helped me to play in pc mode while my rift is still connected. But it would be nice if SteamVR doesn't launch in pc mode :)
@Pie Face: In my case I can't play too long vr sessions, because of health reasons. So I like the possibility to continue the game in pc mode.

You need to have to option to not start VR for those of us who stream or record Let's Plays- Recording or streaming in VR is a nauseating experience for many to watch

Ehhh, doesn't seem to work for me using an Odessey WMR. Windows WMR seems to be getting in the way. It launches, and shows on all three of my screens, but it's showing the POV from the headset. If you move the headset, the view moves with it.
Is there a 'command line' entry we can enter to force it to PC mode?
Thanks in advance!!

Yes!

It doesn't seem to work for me either. I have an Oculus Quest and whenever I launch it with -playpc it still displays from the POV of my headset. If I use the steam option to "Play Rolling Line" it does the same, but also launches the Oculus interface and steam vr.

the Oculus Quest link cable might be conflicting, i haven't been able to test with that.
Just un-plugging the cable will work fine

make sure you are running the non-PC only version, so choose the first launch option when running the game (not the second one).
Also if you had manually added a lunch tag to run in PC mode in the past, make sure it is removed

Wdym by ‘run the non-PC only version’?

Run the game from your library, and choose the "re-enable steam VR" launch option from the list, then exit out of the window that pops up once its done.
Then launch using the first option (or run from within VR).

This is only necessary if you had previously disabled SteamVR, so its unlikely but its worth trying just in case this is the cause

Also make sure you dont have the "-playpc" launch tag (again, this will only be an issue if you manually added this in the past, otherwise dont worry about it).

I have had this issue. I found for another game where I didn't want SteamVR to launch, to add '-nohdm' into the launch tag line. I get the option screen where I can select 'Play on PC', and when I select that SteamVR does not launch for me. I haven't tried yet, but I am guessing that I will need to remove '-nohdm' if I wish to play in VR mode. The point is that I didn't have to otherwise disable SteamVR to play without it starting.
