Upgrades
How do upgrades from the Cantina work? Are they permanent once you install them on a mech or do they have a time limit? Thanks!

Permanent, unless you remove them or put the mech in cold storage.

Or sell it obviously.

Awesome thanks! The timer on them kinda of confused me, I thought it was more of a time limit than just a retrofit time.

from what I can tell, you can also use the same upgrades on multiple 'mechs as long as you have the slots available on the 'mech.

That has been my experience as well.
Maybe it is less "upgrades" in the usual videogame sense, and more "learning how to tweak your mech"?

Question- do installed upgrades increase the mech value if you want to sell it later?
Empukris 1 Jun, 2021 @ 8:26pm
They have 5-6 slots normally, and the effect do stack. To install full 6 can cost you few millions plus 100 days. So only do it to mech that you going to use long term. I always install the heat reduction one normally. Havent really try the projectile velocity one or sensor range.

As people said on top moving it to cold storage remove the upgrade which kind of stupid.

I dont think so.
The Mech-Upgrades are very simple. After you finish the "Quests" from the specific 6 or 8 Parts (I´m not at Home yet to look how many that are), and you get the Money etc. that Mech-Upgrade get open.

Then you have to go in the the Tab Battlemechs from your Ship and there is in the bottom Line with the Repair, Change, Colour-Change an Option with Upgrades. Go there an you can use the Upgrades (like better Sensors, better Rockets, Jumpsets etc.).

There you have to look what is better to use on the Mechs. Belongs what the Mech have (f. e. Energy-Weapons and Jump-Sets then you use that Upgrades with Sensor and Armor / Structrure-Upgrade). If the Mech use Engery and Ballistics without Jump-Sets then Energy- / Ballistic-Upgardes with Armor / Structure and Sensor-Upgrade).

Not all Mechs can Upgrade all about the limited Upgrade-Slots. In the Beginning I look to use the first Upgrades as soon as possible (Sensors, Energy, Rockets, Jump-Sets and if the first Armor / Structure-Upgrade get unlocked this too). The Mechs from the IS are very weak, so it belongs to the men and women Pilot from the Mech.

The faster you get this important Upgrades, the better (esp. Armor, Sensors and Structure). The first important Upgrade you will get for Jump-Sets, Energy-Weapons, Missle-Weapons and Sensors, before you get the first Structure- and Armor-Upgrade).

Much later in the Game (about 10 or 15 Years in the Campaign / Career you will get more modern Variants from the existing Mechs with some new specials. Sadly Mechwarrior 5 ends before the Clan-Invasion, where the IS get the possibility to upgrade the important Armor and Internal Structurs from all Mechs with Claner-Blueprints as well as Weapons.

That I miss in MW 5: Mercenaries from the older Mechwarrior Games (Mechwarrior 3 and 4). The cool thing is that MW 5: Mercenaries is an great Game with the Techs you have in the IS, but the Weapon-Upgrades should have integrated in the Game like the Mech-Upgrades. That Weapon-Upgrade-Blueprints are in MW 5: Clans integrated.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
