this is one of the few games
where I really experienced some kind of voyage

meeting different contacts, going places, fighting on different planets, really miss this experience.

this longing for some kind of endlessness.

Both Mech5 Mercs and BATTLETECH basically have that career mode style gameplay even after you finish the story campaign.
