Why Allies in some mission already at low health at start of mission?
Is there a mod that fixes it?

Reading or listening to the briefings usually helps with avoiding asking silly questions.

Thanks to the clowning loser for some free points :P

Reading the question can help avoid looking like an idiot too. What they're asking isn't covered by that.

OP, yes, some of them will start almost dead. It's an annoying game mechanic. Yes, there's mods that fix it, like "Modular Allied Start Damage" (cant link as nexus is broken right now)

Is there a mod to fix players who can't be bothered to read or listen?

Oh really? Which one of the TWO questions are you referring to? I know which one I've replied to.
First question they are suppose to have been there on defense for awhile and you are relieving them op. second i think so but normally they just get in my way so i prefer they die honestly
I think its dumb that they always start completely stripped, instead of varying degrees of damage.

It's applicable to both, no matter which you're answering.

Ok, so you're intent on staying misguidedly grumpy in your attempted "gotcha" moment directed at me.

Even lordpooky has already pointed out that in some missions the allied faction is explicitly stated to has been engaging the enemy for quite a while before your arrival.

Bloody hell, I can quote you a couple of Ryana's lines during a couple of such missions if you've never bothered to listen to them: 1)"It looks like friendlies are already engaged with hostile forces. Their survival is not our priority, but there's always safety in numbers in a combat zone. We should do what we can to help them out..." + 2)"We have to help the remaining ally forces, Commander. They're on their last stand".

I can even quote one of the very easy to understand mission descriptions: "Our militia is faltering, and we are in dire need of additional troops to bolster our front line...".

Some particular campaign/quest-related missions may have "damaged allies" as part of the story. Everything becomes clear once you start paying attention.

The majority of mission with this "feature" have no prior warning. It's been nice not having to deal with it though, thanks to mods.

Doubling down on your disinformation, I see.

If I remember correctly, only 3 mission types (excluding the campaign/quest-related ones) - Warzone, Garrison Duty and Defense missions have the chance of including battered allies at all and the in-game briefings from Ryana for TWO of these missions + one mission description I've already provided in my previous comment, so I don't know what your imaginary "majority" is supposed to even mean. The actual "majority" of these missions EXPLICITLY mention whether the allies will be present or not even before accepting the contract. If you want me to quote every single line from Ryana or every single variation of mission descriptions - oh, I could do it out of pure spite, don't get me wrong, but I honestly don't want to waste any more of my time just to prove your careless assumptions wrong beyond what has already been established.

Ahh, what a shame... you know, I was really expecting to see some different words from you here - something along the lines of: "I admit I was wrong, Hykril. Please, accept my deepest apologies for brazenly calling you an idiot - that was very rude and disrespectful of me, I promise to be mindful of my attitude next time".

Alas, I guess, not having at least a semblance of conscience isn't something you can fix with mods. :steamfacepalm:

Ngl, I dont even pay attention to the ally units. Its amusing the few times they have actually managed to stay alive somehow, and lasted quite a long time surprisingly, but yeah, if they die, oh well.....it aint like you can save em most the time. Our allies are on their last stand!

Ok, so why did you land us 1000m from the base?

This. This exactly.

But apparently it is what it is and you certainly can't try to reason with this forum regulars, even on basic issues absolutely everybody should agree on based on logic alone.

The in-universe reason for why the front armor of ally mechs is pretty much all gone is because "these units were in active combat long before you arrive" and then the case of Ryana going "local defenders scrambled to activate what they have to assist" is them taking what they had including pre-damaged mechs.

Sure, it makes sense they would be damaged after a long fight with the enemy, but have you ever managed to actually survive with a fully and seemingly evenly stripped mech? I know the damage I take is always quite....all over the place. It'd honestly take skill to get your mech evenly stripped without losing any bits lol.

I have a single time I managed to live in a Warzone until I made over 5 million cbills, I did north of 11,000 damage with just me and my lancemates all did multiple thousands of damage. At the end, my mech was all the colors of the rainbow, arms were stripped, torso was stripped, armor was red, orange and yellow on the other parts....

It'd make more sense if the allies were different levels of damaged, instead of all 1 hp from dead on every location equally. Hell, it even makes sense that you might occasionally find a guy who isnt all that damaged, hes like us, a random reinforcing unit that arrived not that long ago and hes damaged, but not terribly.
