Automatic replacement of metro trains in realistic mode.
I have a line with 22 metro trains running in a loop and they work great. However ...

They will need to be replaced at some point. I can not connect metro to vehicle depots and lines to train depots can not be made continuous. How can I solve this problem so these metro's can be automatically replaced?

I have following solution for other vehicle but metro's are still puzzling me. Sure I can have metro connected directly to the train factory, but that is really limiting my options because that means I need to connect all metro's lines to my factory. What is neither economical nor practical (I mean who builds a train-track to allow a vehicle to be replaced every year).

Trolleybus: Line from factory > depot > factory > border office > depot > border-office
Gas vehicles: Line from Factory > vehicle storage> Factory > border office > vehicle storage > border-office
Trains: Not sure I think they can auto-replace from factory and vehicle storage

I'm pretty sure you can make a T junction of the surface metro and make a train depot. I have a configuration, but i needed a screenshot to show you.
I have normal train tracks coming to the depot from the other side. Also power come from the train tracks by a bypass.

Yeah, but that does not solve the automated vehicle replacement. How the game is currently setup is that I need to generate opportunities for replacement. Anything revolving around depots does not work as a vehicle won't automatically leave the depot.

Metro trains also can not travel on normal train tracks, so they can't drive themself to the T-junction to rejoin the metro track. Unless the game makes an exception for that.

In reality what I would need is that the large vehicle storage allows Metroline connection. Then I can setup a line with a locomotive to bring metro trains to said storage and then sell them after selling 1 or 2 full trains of Metro's.
The closest you can come to automating metro train replacements is to tell a locomotive to haul new metro trains to a train depot that is connected to the metro network by a metro track, and then let the auto-replace system source metro train replacements from there.

I think you also have to manually take old metro trains off the line and have them hauled off to a scrapping facility too, but I haven't messed around with that as much.
I mean I could try replacing them every 40 years, but still rather annoying if I forget it. Either way I did send an email to the devs with some easy fixes for this:

- Large vehicle storage should allow metro connection.
- Scrapping yard also should allow for metro connection (although still rather annoying).

What we really need a vehicle distribution office but yeah that probably will never happen.
