Empty menu on Settings screen and XBOX360 controller not responding.
My X360 controller works fine for other games that have gamepad support. Controller is plugged in, I've reinstalled the game (deleted the game folder in the Steam directory), restarted the game, even restarted Steam, it's still not responding for this game.

I have the same issue involving the settings menu being empty with the exception of the character being on screen.

Opening the game in big picture mode allowed me to set up a configuration for xbox 360 controller with steam, instead of using the game.

Unusual... Could you provide more information about the system you're running on? There may be a bug in the controller support plugin we're using that we're not aware of.

I'm having this issue as well. Gamepad will work to skip opening developer logo intros, but refuses to work from the menu on. Gamepad works in other games without issue.

Hardware:
XInput (Xbox360) Gamepads:
  • Matricom XYBA Gamepad in XInput mode
  • Zhidong V Gamepad in XInput Mode
  • 8Bitdo SN30 Gamepad in XInput Mode (Switch mode doesn't work either)
AMD Ryzen 5 2400G with onboard video (AMD Vega 11)

Software:
Gentoo Linux
Kernel 4.16.3
AMDGPU kernel driver
RadeonSI/RADV from git (pulled 8am CST this morning)
KDE (Plasma Desktop) 5.11.5

Hmm.. I'm not 100% sure why that's not working. I'm using Ubuntu, but I have a DualShock 4 so I haven't been able to test. When you have the joystick connected and go to the Controls remapping menu does it list the joystick in the upper right?

Sorry for this being a few days late. That's not the "Controls Remapping" menu. That's the controls submenu of the Settings Menu. To get to the controls remaping menu, click the third button in the screenshot you sent me (where it says "REMAP"). Then send me a screenshot. Make sure you have the controller(s) attached when attempting this. You should be able to see the controller in the upper right corner.

forgive me, here's the correct screen. Confirmed gamepad was working in other games prior to starting Clawface.

Hmm. I'm not a 100% sure what's going on there.. It looks like steam is having trouble wit hthe controller. There's something in there about `failing to open /dev/uinput` for writing. Some searching seems to indicate that it's something to do with steam.. I'm not sure how to address this as I haven't been able to reproduce the error.

The only thing I can think of right now is checking the controller settings inside steam. I have opted out of all configuration support since steam was highjacking my controller's input from other applications and doing things when I didn't want it to. Maybe that will help.

@Browny, please start a new thread and post your player log to that thread. I can not help you discover the problem without seeing the player log.

That's good to hear! I thought it might have been Steam interjecting itself. I had issues with it and games with controllers when I first started using my DS4. I disabled the controller support then and had been able to use it just fine afterwards. /late
