Sipho
Leech
Hi, love the game, well done. I have been messing around with my favourite weapon the leech and after adding some range and penetration I realised that it is absolutely broken lol At first I was using sizzlers to stun my prey, but its not needed, my creature just inhales enemies in seconds. Its really disturbing watching the leeches reach out, grab and pull in the poor creature while it struggles to get away.

Leech really is great. An interesting combo is using the deep structure parts (no collision and immune to attack) and having a long arm reaching out covered in leeches and polyps. with a polyp on the back you just reach out, grab something and attach to a wall and siphon it to death from a safe distance. It's quite unnerving but satifying to watch sway in the current with a catch. Makes for a very interesting run. Because you have long invulnerable branches you can actually move parts mid combat to leech the enemy core as well for bosses.

Thats a very cool build. Recently I made a creature with a mega leech, used the 3 way structure parts that pass the effects of boosters, connect a whole bunch of range and pierce boosters to one giant leech and watch the massive tongue lick enemies to death, its funny

It's interesting how Leech was one of the most voted Zooid that needed to be better. I do agree it scales really well - maybe the attack speed could be little bit lower.
Healing amount shouldn't scale with damage either - right now it heals you the same amount that you do damage, which makes Nervefiber obsolete if you have strong enough Leeches.

I'm open for suggestions how it could be made more interesting and niche to use - some rebalancing will definitely happen some time in the future!

Nah no interest in helping you nerf my favourite part and I don't see why the main damager of one of the types should be "niche" and are still worse then the crab claws anyway so I run them because I enjoy the creepy leech aspect and the 'sticky' builds not because I think they are necessarily the "best" option. They are fun and unique to use for a very different playstyle.

I do think Nerve fiber is very good, saved me in a few boss fights and out of combat healing is important it's just easy to forget extra abilities because there are so many of them you can sort of drown in abilities and start running out of hotkeys and brain power to activate them. Being able to make some of these abilities passive or some parts work automatically would make things a lot more usable late game. When I first fought the nerve boss I thought, oh cool it seems to have some passive healing ability, when I unlocked it I realized I'll probably never actually be able to consistently use this ability because it's manual. Given the choice between nerve and carapace I'd take carapace 100% of the time because I don't need to push yet another button to use it.

That's fair! I guess we will need to persuade you with better alternatives to Leech. I feel like nerfing isn't the best way to deal with imbalance - it's more fun to have other parts become more powerful. Leech and Sprayer probably sit on top of the most powerful zooids list.

As for Nervefiber and tens of skills - have you tried binding several skills on the same key? I've seen players bind Dash on W, so M1 gets freed up. I personally sometimes bind Nervefiber to the same key as Leech or Sizzler.

In any case, we have ideas of improving skill system and/or adding a certain zooid that would make some skill Activations automatic...

Sprayer is pretty busted honestly. Good range, and way better damage then about anything you can put there otherwise as well. Makes it feel like flak may as well not exist except as cheaper gun to mix in.

You can bind multiple skills to the same key? Might be worth tutorializing somewhere that somewhere, big gamechangers that one as hotkey quanitity has always played a huge part in my creature designs.

If you want to make a part directly compete with leech I'd actually reccomend taking a look at spike as I very much feel that that part is incredibly underwhelming and the only part invalidated by leech as it doesn't really do anything but be a worse claw and leech by quite a wide margin. The poison sprayer on that zooid is also just a worse poison mine which just makes the whole starter option a bit sad and I can't imagine picking either part mid run.
