When you pick it up to move around somewhere along the bottom of the screen is a prompt that tells u the button to place it inside your backpack. The only times this doesn't show is one of these two reasons:
1. Backpack is full, not room to place inside
2. In games settings you are "zoomed in" with your resolution and the prompt is hidden to the side.
