According to the wiki, it's still 20 eggs, numbered 1-20. However, I remember something causing my uncollected eggs to duplicate during the y1 egg hunt on my current save, so maybe whatever caused that for me happened here as well?

well I collected all 20 different eggs, and duplicates of several of them, giving me 33 eggs in total.
However Ester still says there is ONE egg left in town. I have not broken any of the eggs yet, I am still on the first day of the festival, so I will keep them all intact for several days to see if more eggs appear, as several of them respawned immediately after I collected them.
The same thing happened on my original map file, I frequently got multiples of several eggs in later years. I have even received Easter eggs in other seasons in those blue boxes and in loot chests and on Kozita island.
Not that I am complaining, just have to keep them until the next spring to open them.

Her dialogue might not match ever if you use manual save. It will always mess up the amount of eggs in town. There are 20 on each map. I always wait to break them so I know which ones I'm missing as they have numbers on them. Manual save can cause some weird things in the game (including duplicating drops) but can also move some of your items (as I've heard others report) so it's best to only use it sparingly and try to only sleep to save

Oh yeah, and starting late year 3, you will get better items from loot chests (including eggs and animals)

well the day after I collected all the eggs she finally said there were 0 eggs left, but she keeps changing her mind, 0 eggs one minute, later 1 egg , then later 0 eggs again.
Ester cant count, can't make up her mind, or is just dreaming there is one more egg somewhere.
i'm not complaining about getting 33 eggs instead of only 20,

BUT then the next day Ester said there were 2 eggs left in town, and I found 2 more eggs (identical) behind the mayors house, and then Ester finally said I found them ALL, and gave me the extra 10 tickets. So that was 35 eggs in all, and I had previously found the eggs behind the mayors house, so she must have hidden more after I found them the first time.
