Achievement progress on multiplayer?

So I was thinking of getting this game for a friend, so we could play together...but I am wondering how it counts towards the achievements in multiplayer?
Say I host a world, and till 1 soil. And my friend tills 1 soil. What does it count as soil tilled? 1 for me, 1 for my friend, or does the host get 2?

TLDR; Do the achievements count towards the player or to the world?

It counts towards the player but you can earn achievements in someone else's world. Or, I should say you can earn towards your own achievements

90 percent sure this is correct but you might want a second opinion
