Could this idea work as a minigame? Any ideas for improvements?
Basically, it'd be a contest to see how much heavy stuff you can carry as far as you can. Before the game starts, ALL your items (except your backpack) would be temporarily confiscated.

Once the game begins, there's a storehouse with a bunch of stuff with different weights worth different points. There would be treasure chests provided at some checkpoints. Your goal is to carry as much stuff as far as you can within a time limit; let's say, 3 minutes. The mini game is over if you run out of time or health (In the event of the latter, the contest staff would provide you first aid to you to prevent a game over). Your score is based on how much stuff you carried and how far you carried it into a chest.

Heavier items are worth more points. Every time you put it into a treasure chest, it's weight is multiplied by the distance of the Chest from the starting point. You'd have to make good judgement on how much you want to carry, and how far you want to carry it, or waste your stamina & eventually your health.

What do you guys think? Any thoughts or ideas?

I'm probably not going to add many minigames until I get further along with the main path stuff, but it wouldn't be that hard to make a mod of...
