In my excitement to try out the new map on Wednesday, I logged onto Steam on my work laptop and created my account on my work laptop so I could freeplay the Airship. Unfortunately for me, that means my work laptop is now the device that Among Us believes is my playing device because of the current bug where the FIRST device you register your Among Us account through Steam is the ONLY one you can sign in on your account. I have a gaming machine that is much preferable for all games, Among Us included, so here's me, wishing I could play Among Us normally on my gaming laptop.

I also happen to have an old Steam account from my college days.

I logged in on my gaming laptop, friended my active Steam account from my old Steam account, then asked to "borrow" my active Steam account's copy of Among Us. For whatever dumb reason, Among Us allowed me to create an account, where I was able to use free chat and change my name back to my preferred name instead of doing the randomizer thing. All my existing stats for the game are still there and as far as I can tell, still being recorded. I'm just using a "borrowed" copy of Among Us so I'm sure my playtime isn't getting logged on my main Steam account.

So for anyone who is struggling to get the game working normally because of "error mismatched product user IDs," consider making a second Steam account, friending your main Steam account, and then borrowing a copy of Among Us from your main Steam account. Worked for me, anyway.
