got patch to install, apparently I Was been silly and needed to delete the documents/registry files.
new problem though, now it wont register that I have a virtual CD and I just found out there are no 1.2.3 cd cracks. I can install, and uninstall, then re install, or even update, all day... but I cant get it to register my cd. I remember this was an issue before... I cant remember how I solved it then though. I have done the whole compatibility settings so I know its not something basic like that.
I also see no replies to my earlier response... but one reply from Dec of last year..... Anyone else here?
I had this very same issue. I tried looking around, but there are indeed no cracks available, and I've read somewhere else that modern windows doesn't dig securom anymore. I also read that the steam version of kohan 2, here, doesn't have that added layer of securom anymore, and has all the patches ready.
It's a shame, and I'll certainly be keeping my disk with me. but from what I could see, the only option in this case, was to shove 10 euros at steam and grab a copy here.
Bit nihilistic, but I really couldn't find helpful references or old support info that could help with this.
The Msgothic and MAIN thread issues are well documented, and should be the only required steps to get a steam install working, next to possible adding a Date execution exception.
But this securom thing and the game demanding the disk every time ... seems like there is no way around that for anyone without IT degrees.
I will just stick to the patch I have that still works, because that too is nice.... almost as nice as the new patch but just nice enough that I am not going to spend more money for one or two little tweeks.
This discourages me though from spending money on the series, if they ever come out with a new addition, or even if they suddenly released some DLC. no thanks, I dont support money grabs like this.
P.S.: I am not encouraging you to spend money on the title, however, wanted to make sure you will be aware of the background context.
