There are no patches for voices. The in game voices all go according to the captain's gender, not the units.

Yes, it always goes according to the captain, to my knowledge.

Hm, then is there a way to change the captain's gender to female? It should be coded in a text file somewhere.

I've tried o check on issue, and voice used by company is defined by frontline unit that also define used company or Kohan hero leading company(voice of Kohan hero takes precedence over frontline unit), basic captains don't have defined their own voices and when used company should retain voice of frontline unit.

You can have more than 4 heroes, just pick female capt heroes and you are reset. The game has further development if you asking.
