Game won't start ERROR message

I got the game on a sale today. Game refuses to start. I get this error message:
An error has occurred:
ERROR: String 'error_missing_string' not found in string table.

This is a windows error message.

I am running Windows 7 64 bit.

I'm also running into the same problem you are, will look into whats happening and report back if I get it working.

Ok, after a bit of looking, I figured out it was having 2 monitors that caused the error. Here is a message on the support forums for Kohan II that discusses it. Goto the bottom of the page. IT tells you how to run it without having to turn the 2nd monitor off.

Cool, glad to see it helped. I saw you were in AUS and we both had the same game. Sent you a friend request. Maybe we could get a game going (I am guessing there is multiplayer.) What I ses so far of the game I like. Well Off to bed, work in the morning.

um so aparantly timegate went bankrupt..... the link doesnt work, can someone enlighten me / the rest of us who are having this issue?

I found this and it worked:

A quick easy fix without disabling second monitor is to

Find your k2.exe file, go to the Properties --> compatibility and:
1. Disable visual themes
2. Disable desktop composition

I have a new problem which says "no disk was found" but I have the disc, what should I do about

This post is 12 years old, the game is 20 years old. If you have the disk, you are not using the STEAM version.
