Is this now normal that I need to create an MS Account to play a game?!
I don't even wanna play online but only the story.

Very normal for original games that housed the original xbox gamertag system. Halo 2, 3, Reach, and 4, are the big variables to this. You do have the ability to simply create an email while on MCC and you do not have to validate it 95% of the time.
