Beware making an EDF the core of a plane.
It you make a plane with an EDF as its 'core' component and you crash so completely the EDF becomes an individual item when you retrieve using F9 the EDF may fly off by itself. It can do this vertically in a stable manner climbing at 60 m/s until the battery runs out!
My record stands at 11600 m and almost directly over the workshop.
