My plane lifts off the water at about 8 knots and then quickly speed up to 20 when is starts to fly normally.
I have posted a screen shot called "Big VTO" which is my most successful design so far. It can land and take off from some pretty 'dry land' unusual places too.
If you walk you plane to the water edge you can see the plane and the transmitter at the same time.
The Aero Commander has yaw controlled differential thrust which means it can manoeuvre on water as well as on land.
To land on water it has to touch down at the lowest possible airspeed and avoiding big waves or it will be damaged.
As long as you land with very little forward speed, anything can land on water. (Tried and tested.) Everything floats, by the way. At least, I haven't found any plane to sink thus far.
The problem is the take-off. One can sail, though. Sailed all over the bay with various planes. Just don't go too fast as this tends to result in a crash, oddly enough. Basically, even planes that could generate enough thrust to take off can't because they crash. I haven't tried rockets so far, but as long as they provide vertical thrust they probably work.
They say water physics might come along eventually as a low priority. (At least, this is what I read on the discord. If you haven't joined yet, this is where most active people are and where you can get a lot of solid help & info. Helped me a ton.)
