Can't post (new) comments on guides
I just noticed that I can't post multiple comments on other people's guides. I'm pretty sure this was possible just recently. Why was this change made? It makes it pretty much impossible to have a discussion with the author regarding a problem with the guide.

if the setting
"Can post comments on my profile"
if this is set to private, no one can comment on your any of your ugc but yourself.
friends only -> friends only (except commu-blocked users)
public -> everyone (except commu-blocked users)

this was not like that when they updated the privacy settings, that was an undocumented change. that setting was for the profile comments exclusively before. now it is for everything.

When saying multiple comments about how many comments are you talking about?

Someone told me that they can't post a second comment on my guide in a related discussion. I checked a random guide I've commented on and I can't post a second comment, but I'm pretty sure I could do that before. The post comment box is just missing.

How? I don't see any such option on my guide.

because it is not there.

the only way a guide owner can prevent people from posting on his guide is by blocking communication via their profile.

there is no general setting for comments.

Damn, my bad. I mixed that up with reviews where I can decide to allow comments or not.
I checked multiple items in differents workshops and also can't post comments. Even in oitem where I'm the co-author.
I think it's a global problem with comments in user's files, no matter it's a guide or an item in workshop.

I just commented on your only guide.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Confirmed! What's wrong with Steam? Why authors must have thier comment in profiles be opened to allow comments on thier public items (workshop files, guieds, videos etc)?

Most likely an oversight when GDRP changes got implemented. Feel free to post in the suggestions forum to request a separate setting.

Actually, screenshots and workshop items are supposed to have a separate setting:
Screenshots & workshop Items: Per-Item
Perhaps they forgot to add a per-guide setting? I've changed Can post comments on my profile to public (I don't really care what it's set to). Could someone please test it on my only guide?

I see you just posted a comment now, are you able to post a second one? If that setting really is what was causing the problem, it should really be pointed out to Valve, as it's not at all obvious.
ReBoot 11 Jul, 2018 @ 6:18am
I think its not about 2 consecutive comments, its rarher a before-change-after-change-situation.
