Could try looking for beat 'em ups with RPG systems. Nothing really comes to mind though.

Also, they used to sell the ports of the game but Marvel license ran out and the port was meh anyway. Still remember the good old days of playing it on the Xbox. "Speedrun" 100%+maxing all chars in around 6 hours.

There's a few like it ... somewhat.

There's nothing that I know like it that involves melee combat as the main function, but there are plenty that use a top down ARPG mechanic. Use the ARPG tag in the search and you should be good.

There's older games like Fate, Dungeon Siege, and so on. But they're obivously fantasy based rather than superhero.

Thing is, looking up ARPGs would get you things closer to Diablo-likes or Witcher style games than XML.

i can't believe that this genre is so unpopular. i had a quick look in the shop but morst games are rpg maker games or hack'n'slay a la diablo

Yup, it's a great genre. I similarly love them too. I regularly play the old ones on Xbox and PS2. I love the X-Men Legends games, but also the brilliant ones done on Snowblind Studios engine - Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance, Champions of Norrath, Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel, The Bard's Tale and Justice League Heroes.

If you are ever able to get a chance to play them in future, I thoroughly recommend them.

And you suggested what OP isn't looking for. He's looking for a topdown beat 'em up/brawler with an RPG stat/skill system supporting local 4-man co-op. That's the best way to describe XML. Closest would be like an RPG Musou, but even that's a strech and wrong perspective.

Please read my whole post then as I described it succinctly. He isn't having a problem with my response, as he clearly understood it and has answered.

So I don't know why you're complaining, but it isn't my problem. My points still stand - there is nothing like this that I know of, but there' the closest alternatives. There's nothing more to grasp here.

Yes, Freedom Force (and it's sequel) is pretty good and probably quite close to what you want.

I never liked it as much as it fellt a bit dijointed to me, but that's really me being picky as it is a good game, though a bit old, of course.

Valve has nothing to do with their IP.

Baldurs Gate Dark Alliance 2 is kinda similar

Closest game I can think of is the Freedom Force games.
