Yeah don't use the music player, something clearly broke in the steam app. So wait for a fix.
It was crashing on Sam Smith "Unholy".
I thought Steam was also protesting
Are you using FLAC or MP3?
But why?!
I'm sure at least 75%+ of players listen to their own music rather than game soundtracks, right?
Movie player yes.
Music player no.
Depends but at the same time it's their program subjected to change at any moment.
they doing that would be a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ tbh, will be pulling a youtube one
You know what, please everyone file tickets with Steam Support.
The more reports the better the chance they will fix this.
I suspect that many gamers listen to their music on Spotify or whatever app so may be it's just a few of us who use the Steam MP.
(I'm pretty old school. I still use iTunes and get my music as downloads rather than stream).
i cant pretty much say a lot cause my head fells like a broken glass, i barelly remember how i used to do stuff in the past, where to download musics, app's used etc.
I would press Steam, and it would just "restart" Steam as it were booting up after a new update, with the game ads and everything.
I tried to rescan the albums and checked the music folder itself to make sure the songs were not corrupted or something, but it's was all perfectly fine except for Steam's Music Player...
I did find out today that MP3 audio files have an easier time being played through the Steam Music Player, but at least one of them crashed while I tried it.
This is really annoying because I like using the built-in music player for playing my music in-game, so seeing it at risk of being removed is going to be disappointing. I don't want to have to press the Windows key every time I wanna change the song manually on VLC Player or whatever.
(Also, my music folder is a mix of MP3s, M4As, WAVs, and OGGs, if anyone's curious. The music player crashes on all of them except a very small few. And even then, the sound "clicks" and glitches a bit, making it seem like it's struggling to play the music.)
File a report with Steam Support.
The more info they have the easier it will be to isolate and recreate the problem.
My ticket is still on-going.
But Steam have still not been able to reproduce the crashes.
Another topic same issue.
I did all these things, as it was advised by Steam Support when I opened my ticket.
1. Reinstall Steam
2. SSD check.
3. Memory test.
All ran no problems. Still music player crash.
Yes, as a workaround just use your music player app for music instead of Steam.
