Cant sign in its stuck loading on "Loading user data" any fixes?
just played a game of cs normally and then my internet went offline apparently and disconnected and now when ever i open steam it just stays stuck on the loading user data screen and constantly spinning but nothing happends. I've restarted pc and tried running as admin and also reset password but nothing is working. Anybody had this before?

mine has magically fixed itself! but only after I sent another strongly worded support ticket and they told me to remove my user data folder. friends, do NOT remove your user data folder. do not EVER do that. that will wipe all of your game progress on everything you own. some support team they have there...

anyway, looks like the waiting game really is the answer. in my support ticket, I asked them to do an account refresh on their end-- no idea if they actually did that or not, but maybe try sending a ticket and asking them anyway. worth a shot.

Day 3 and still nothing. Going to update my support ticket to include an account refresh on their end.

Hi everyone, just wanted to give all a heads up about the Steam "Loading user data" issue. After researching a lot on the Steam community forums and finding out that either the issue clears up on its' own (unlikely, based on reading Steam discussions and people still not being able to get in) or you will have to open a support ticket requesting an "account refresh". (Shoutout to BullDawg for the account refresh info)

AFAIK, this is 100% on Steam's backend and is causing problems for a lot of people even though they try different computers and different internet connections, but are still seeing the same issue. For me, switching to a secondary account had no issue logging in and installing/playing games, but on this account, I could not get into the client and saw the neverending "Loading user data". I've left this loading state for over 8+ hours so I know that the Steam client isn't actually doing anything.

Please note that after creating the support ticket, if you try to log into Steam multiple times to see if it works, Steam Support may think that you have successfully logged in because technically when you sign in, Steam will report on their backend that your account has been able to successfully log in, but in reality, the "Loading user data" never stopped for you, and technically you never got into the client (to see your Library/Friends etc).

This means, while you technically signed in and Steam shows you successfully got past the login screen, you still weren't able to access your account.

Steps to resolve:

1. Create a support ticket by going to the link and going to "Contact Steam Support"

2. Explain your situation about receiving the "Loading user data" issue and request an "account refresh". Feel ree to post links to Steam community discussions that are all discussing the same thing:

When creating the support ticket, I also made sure to also mention that "if this Steam Support ticket is still open, I am not able to get onto the account."

3. Wait for the refresh

Once Steam Support responds, hopefully everything is fixed. Here's the message they sent after resolving my issue:

We understand your frustration and we're sorry that you have encountered this issue.

We've checked your account and carried out some troubleshooting. Please restart your Steam client and sign in to your account again.

If the issue persists, please follow the steps below:

Restart your computer
Check for interfering programs running and stop running them


If you continue to see the issue after stopping any interfering programs, you'll want to download the Steam installer again in order to repair your local Steam installation. Once you have the installer, run it and select the current file path of your Steam installation. This will make sure that you have all of the correct files in the correct locations, while preserving installed games and other account specific details.

After all of this, if the problem still exists, please let us know.

Update: My first ticket was shut down after them repeating "your network is the problem" and "find a local IT expert to look at your computer." I am literally an IT expert lol. On the 2nd request the support person was kind of enough to do an account refresh on their end and voila it works now.

So tl;dr: if you are *sure* there aren't any problems on your end, don't wait and open a support ticket. I thought waiting for the system to figure itself out (as it worked for some people) might drag it out longer than it needs to.

My problem is solved!
Logged out of all currently online steam accounts (for all but cell phone)
Then wait for a while and it worked!
(Couldn't log in 4 hours ago)
At least that's how I found it, hope it works for everyone here!

i managed to fix the problem, just sent ticket to steam support about refreshing your account and dont try to log in until u get notification from them, now everything works :D

A fix:

Reset your password. This will update/refresh your account and you can then login. The same thing happened to me today and this worked for me. :cozybrawlhalla6:

Bumping this. Happened to me now whilst I was trying to purchase a game. I was notified an error occured during the purchase. Tried to redo it, but I was informed I already owned the game now. It did not appear in my game library so I tried to restart my client. That's when I encountered the infinite "Loading user data"...
