Try to delete the steam cache located at %appdata%/locat ( htmlcache folder ) while steam is offline and if you need to setup steam again, change it folder, call it steamx as exemple.
current work-around:
Library > Collections
so you can at least access all games on the left again
apparently it has something to do with the loading of the content, especially with the "my next favorite", here always turns a steam logo before the window closes, also I have problems with the pictures of the games, so the "covers", these are often not displayed, or very late, currently rather not at all, because the window closes first
I'm curious what the problem is in the end
So you deleted the folder htmlcache while steam was not running and it did not helped ? Have you tryed to setup a new steam instance on a new folder like steamx?
if so and if still nothing is working then you should contact steam support about your problem and see what solution they have for you

Imo @John Grimm you should uninstall the steam client, delete the htmlcache folder located at %appdata%/local and also delete the steam folder completely and re install it but under another steam folder name and see how it goes.
The problem is "deeper".
If I start an account with less than 500 games, for example, it works; if I start an account with over 5000 games, the window closes.
Collections and BPM work without problems.
I have already reinstalled steam as suggested, the problem is exactly the same as before the reinstallation, so I currently assume that it has something to do with the number of games. I even think it has something to do with the way the library is set up, I would like to deactivate this "my next favorite", but i can't do that because I can't control the window before it closes.
The problem is unfortunatelly on your side, now the hard part will be to discover where and why, assuming you did a fresh setup of steam on a new folder name and also cleared htmlcache.
What system are you using and when it crash , what is the message if there is one or can you check the "event viewer" and see something ?
And do not forget the steam logs , check them and more specifically cef.log , bootstrapp.log and check what was written here after/during a crash
i also can suggest you to stop using some background for your profile in a first time and leave it as simple as possible.
So i guess @John Grimm is not the profile that do not work ...
I was then able to delete all the "shelves" and now i can open the library on the main computer again without any problems.
so there really seems to be a problem with one of the shelves if you have "many" games, my suspicion still lies with the "my next favorite" shelf.
but thanks for trying to help!
Good to know , glad you finally solved your problem alone xd
i guess if that happen to other, may be we can delete our "shelves" directly using a webbrowser , it can be helpfull and something to keep in mind as it does not happen ofter.
have fun playing !
That why it's very important while uninstall and setting up steam again to delete the older steam folder or using another name during the next setup to avoid this.
I'm just glad it's working again but I'm frustrated I had to resort to that because nothing else worked.
Nothing important is saved locally , everything is on your online profile when you setup a fresh install and by important i mean you library, the games you own.
