is there a way to block all "AI" generated content on steam?
Is there a setting somewhere that will prevent steam from ever recommending or showing e any of this sloppily made "AI" generated shovelware? I keep seeing it in my recommendations and I'd sooner put my gaming rig in a hydraulic press then purchase that ♥♥♥♥.

There isn't a tag for it or specific category like there is for adult games and stuff. So not at the moment.

If someone invented a "show me only the stuff I want to buy" toggle they would already be the richest person in the world, so no.

AI doesn't make games. People have been making shovelware long before Google invented Deep Dream.

You can find a complete list of games that were made using generative AI or that have generative AI in them on Steam here: https://steamdb.info/search/?a=app_keynames (set key name to "common_aicontenttype" and hit Search). All things considered, there's not really that many of them.

i want a "block all of these" button that jsut automatically refuses to show me any of this poorly made AI involved slop.

Except even if they were tagged (accurated), the AI tag would mostly end up on new AAA games, as those are the developers with the big cost centres, so will be the main adopters of AI technologies to try to bring those costs down, and reduce the amount of developers, graphics artists, designers, etc. on their payroll. The "poorly made slop" games don't have any costs to offload onto an AI, so aren't going to see any benefit from it.

Every digital game ever made relied on tools that use algorithmic functions to be made which is no different than what we are currently calling “AI” so no you can’t avoid it.

This method doesn't seem to work anymore unfortunately, at least for me.

It would probably end up blocking over 95% of every new game in the past year. Not all AI generated work is bad or sloppy. You'd be surprised.

Good luck.

yes all ai generated work is bad. it involves using an automated theft machine that randomly grinds up the work of actually talented people to spit out a tube of processed creativity loaf.

its the SPAM of art, if SPAM tasted twice as bad.

It's not like Valve knows what games have AI generated assets.

FYI, I can't care less. "AI", at least in the way that most people picture it, don't exist. And won't exist until we break out a new level of computer, way more powerful than the technology we possess right now.

That "AI" you are talking about is but a tool. One which has existed for at the very least two decades by now. It just get a tad more powerful every year. Just like a gun or the nuclear power, it is what people do with it which make the difference.

I personally can't care less about "AI generated artwork". What I care about is the low quality I get in games. And the "AI" has absolutely nothing to do with that.

That's not how any of this works.
At all.
AI isn't to blame.
It's the laziness of Developers to churn out crap over and over as they have for literally over 40 years.

AI was a pipe dream when the first crap games were made.
Don't go after AI.
Right now it's not even as smart as a 4 year old kid. LOL.

Would you go pick on a baby?

Yeah, it's not like there's a mandatory legally binding content survey game developers have to fill out before they can publish a game on Steam... except for the one that exists.

And have you seen that survey?
