Does it show the game your friend apparently gifted to you?
Okay. Click on your notifications icon and then click "view all". Filter them by gifts. Does this new gift show up for you?
Not a new gift, I meant the gift your friend sent you.
If it's still showing there, what happens when you click on it? Does it just take you back to your inventory?
Then the only thing to do is wait the 30 days for the gift to be refunded to your friend, whereby they can then try and gift it to you again.
Otherwise, you could try restarting Steam.
Not sure what else can be done.
You surely contacted him before starting a whole thread here - but you havent lost a single word about what he said.
- Is your friend >really< a friend, or just a random person you added?
- Was the email really a steam email or maybe a look-alike fake (look at the actual adress, not just the name it got sent from)?
- Did you at some point have to enter your login data somewhere else than the actual steam-client?
- Is the Game maybe blocked in your country?
- Did your friend buy the Game form some weird russian third-party website?
Just some things to consider...
