They literally made a speaker news to announce that just the other day.

Please try harder to farm your clown awards. It is not even worth rolling my eyes to those anymore...

Silently? It was announced to everyone via the newsfeed bell icon.

Ah! A clickbait YouTube video.

From the newsfeed: (transparency)

If you want to go back to seeing the Overall Review Score based on all user reviews, ignoring your language, you can change that setting in your Store preferences.

You can read the full announcement instead of a random YT channel no one has ever heard of...

That Youtuber is a click-hunting grifter. Her kind is known for fabricating fake outrage. You can still see the total average review score on the STORE PAGE of the game, just above the section where the reviews are starting.
Example:
- Warhammer 40.000 Dawn of War definitive edition:
75% positive reviews total
78% positive reviews in English.

What would be a far more interesting thing would be YouTube changing their algorithms and policies away from encouraging and promoting garbage clickbait trash like that linked.

As someone who doesn't pay much if any attention to this I could care less.

When I see a game I want to buy (because I know what games I like playing, duh) I buy it.

Honestly WHY would I want to read a review in a language I don't understand anyways?

Wow ... just wow.

LOL at all these young zoom zooms thinking that NOT following some Steam news 24/7 = "clout farming". Seems like this place has indeed bent the knee as well...

Says the guy who didn't bother clicking on an icon flashing on his Steam client and then get totally flabbergasted by fake news and decide it's their life goal to spread said misinformation on the site.

Even worse, this last reply of yours seem to point at the fact that you haven't even realised how ridiculous this whole thing that you tried to start is.

Yea it was not silent. That blue speaker things was glowing. I read about it.
OP has a valid point about it being silent. Text does not read itself. From now on, all announcements should be in the form of 30 second or less autoplaying videos, at least half of which should be someone saying something like "you won't believe this Steam news that just dropped!"
Komarimaru 19 AGO a las 17:18
Clickbait videos and failing to read tend to go hand in hand I've noticed.
robilar5500 19 AGO a las 17:28
It wasn't silent. They sent out an alert to all accounts which detailed the new policies.

And it only applies to games with 2000 or more reviews that also has 200 or more reviews in a single language. And it likely has an option to see all reviews same as always.
