For the past year I had games using Proton Experimental (Dragon Quest 11; Pac-Man Championship Editions and many others) and then about 3-4 weeks ago none of my older games would work using proton experimental.

I tried with Hotfix too and they kept crashing with DirectX10 errors (DX10 not found) or "failed to create D3D"

Then I tried them with Proton 9.04 and they worked perfect.

My questions are these:

Do older games stop working with Proton Experimental and Hotfix after a certain time?

Are older proton versions supposed to be used for older games?

And how do you know which to use without trying all the different ones?
