Steam could work without the steam service for windows
why tho does it need it as a stock loaded service ?

... except it doesn't. Its start type is "Manual", meaning it doesn't get started when your system starts. It gets started by Steam when Steam needs it. Also, when Steam closes, the service isn't running anymore.
yeah but why, clearly can operate without it
because i can name applications that do what steam can.. and dont need this.

My point is, youi're lying. You said "running 24/7" while the service only runs when Steam is running. In other words, you're lying.
my bad i made a mistake.
still does not explain why it's needed

You'd have to ask Steam why

thanks, but that was obvious.

If it was obvious, you wouldn't have made this thread.

How you can claim its not needed when you don't know what it does?
because most of the functions steam needs to do can be preformed by many different applications and programming languages without the need for a service running in system.
it's usually when people need deeper system access/driver mediators that they go this route.

Ok, but you said most there. What are the steam functions that do need a service?
