Renaming Steam Input Controller settings - some keys don't type while in game
I was trying to change the controller settings while in a game. Changing the controls themselves works fine, but the names default to shooter game controls so I tried to rename them, but the R, T, and O keys do not work. The O key does nothing, R acts as the right arrow, and T acts as the down arrow. This happens whether I use my physical keyboard, or use the mouse or controller for the onscreen keyboard.

## To reproduce
* open a game that doesn't natively support a controller (e.g. Cosmic Express 583270, Gridroad 2677310)
* press Shift+Tab to open Steam Overlay
* open Controller Settings
* Edit Layout
* open settings on a control (e.g. the B button of the xbox controller)
* press Rename command
* type something including O, R, or T and observe the above behavior

I observed this behavior on the following systems:

Debian Bookworm

Operating System Version:
Debian GNU/Linux 12 (bookworm) (64 bit)
Kernel Name: Linux
Kernel Version: 6.1.0-34-amd64
X Server Vendor: The X.Org Foundation
X Server Release: 12101007
X Window Manager: KWin
Steam Runtime Version: steam-runtime_1.0.20250307.120442
Client Information:
Version: 1745876290

Debian Trixie

Operating System Version:
Debian GNU/Linux 13 (trixie) (64 bit)
Kernel Version: 6.12.27-amd64
X Server Vendor: The X.Org Foundation
X Server Release: 12101016
X Window Manager: KWin
Steam Runtime Version: steam-runtime_1.0.20250408.124523
Client Information:
Version: 1747701111

## workaround
View controller settings from outside the game e.g. the library page in the steam app. As far as I can tell this properly updates the setting even if the game is open.

I am observing the same issue, its quite frustrating

My system is:

Operating System Version:
"Manjaro Linux" (64 bit)
Kernel Name: Linux
Kernel Version: 6.12.37-1-MANJARO
X Server Vendor: The X.Org Foundation
X Server Release: 12101018
X Window Manager: KWin
Steam Runtime Version: steam-runtime_1.0.20250519.130917

Ive also tried on Wayland

It also seems the steam input keyboard popup isnt working at all in the game Im playing but that may be game specific and unrelated
